DEG relies on the active participation of its members to accomplish its goals and objectives. Contact the Division Executive Committee to volunteer.

Continuing Education
Purpose: Provide members with the knowledge necessary to conduct professional activities. This committee is the presence of the DEG in development of continuing education, academic curriculum, K-12, and professional development education opportunities.

Environmental Geophysics
Bruce Smith, Chair, Michael Jacobs, Vice-chair
Purpose: To develop programs, lectures, short courses and publications that will demonstrate the current applications of geophysical techniques to environmental problems. To present near-surface geophysical related subjects and projects and to develop skills that may be of interest to fellow AAPG geoscientists such as seismic methods, ground-penetrating radar, nonconventional EM techniques, complex resistivity, borehole geophysical logging, gravity and magnetics, tomography, and cone penetrometer.

Honors and Awards Nominations
Hannes E. Leetaru, Chair

Hydrogeology Robert Maric, Chair, Steven Tischer, Vice-chair
Purpose: To develop programs, lectures, short courses and publications that will demonstrate the current applications of geological and hydrogeological techniques to environmental problems. These include: water resources, groundwater contamination and remediation, groundwater modeling of water resources and contaminant flow and transport, site assessment and conceptual site models, and groundwater geochemistry.

Liasion
Charles Steincamp, Chair
Purpose: The early warning system for DEG about future issues and regulations. Maintain contact with federal agencies and Congress as appropriate to inform the membership regarding laws, proposals, and issues affecting geologists and their ability to provide earth resources to society; inform federal agencies about scientific issues pertaining to laws and regulations. Individual members conduct liaison with specific societies or working groups and are responsible for coordination and communication with those groups including joint sponsorships, seminars, and technical programs. Work closely with the Government Affairs Committee of the Division of Professional Affairs.

Membership

Purpose: Develop programs for student/DEG members through coordination with other DEG committees; devise ways to increase DEG Membership.

Nominating
Jane McColloch, Chair
Purpose: Two members are most immediate DEG past presidents; three members are appointed by DEG Executive Committee. Staggered 3-year terms.

Web Site
Vicki Harder, Chair
Purpose: To guide the development and maintenance of the DEG Web Site through formulating rules and procedures.

Associate Editors

Purpose: Maintains publication of the DEG Reporter and The Environmental Geosciences Journal and coordinates between the publisher and DEG; identifies opportunities for the production of special or individual publications and projects consistent with the goals and objectives of DEG; provides recommendations to the DEG Executive Committee.
